  • Welding: To join (metals) by applying heat, sometimes with pressure and sometimes with an intermediate or filler metal with a high melting point.
  • Yield Strength: Also known as engineering strength, yield strength is defined as the stress at which a predetermined amount of permanent deformation occurs. However, once the yield strength has been exceeded, the original numbers no longer apply due to a condition called necking which is a stretching or elongation of the material.
